Helen is a graduaate in Modern Languages (French and Spanish) with Economics and Fellow of the UK Museums Association.

 

She has over thirty-five years’ experience in museums and heritage having worked at National Railway Museum, York from July 1982 to February 2014, managing all collections activities at the museum, with a team divided between collections management and collections access, during which time she managed the collections and curatorial aspects of the development of Locomotion, the National Railway Museum at Shildon and Search Engine, the NRM’s archive, library and research facility.

 

Helen is a trained professional mentor for candidates for the Arts Council England Museum Accreditations Scheme, and is Museum Mentor to several organisations, including The Company of Merchant Adventurers of the City of York, Bahamas Locomotive Society and The Sierra Leone National Railway Museum.

 

Helen is a Trustee of the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway in mid-Wales, UK and is the founding Chair of the Friends of Sierra Leone National Railway Museum.

 

She is a Director of our UK based partner consultancy, The International Railway Heritage Consultancy Ltd.

 

She was awarded the OBE for services to railway heritage in the New Year Honours List, 2010.
